The brief
The Client wanted to explore the feasibility of refurbishing and refurnishing their dated, inadequate existing offices as an alternative to moving to new, purpose-built premises, potentially outside of the local area. The brief was to create a smart, healthy and modern working environment combining office space and conference facilities, with a focus on the Client’s strong corporate identity and environmental policies.
The solution
Egan Reid and their contractor partner recommended & implemented a complete refurbishment programme which included:
- Converting redundant warehouse space into a state-of-the-art fully furnished ground floor conference centre to include audio-visual equipment, a bistro and service area, rest rooms and cloakrooms; Egan Reid and the contractor assisted the Client with all relevant planning applications;
- Creating a mezzanine floor for new office space;
- Refurbishing and furnishing the existing open plan offices, directors’ suites, meeting rooms, IT server room and laboratory area on the first, second and third floors.
Egan Reid also managed a comprehensive internal move programme allowing staff to remain on site during contracting work and new furniture installation. This involved creating fully operational temporary office space to relocate staff and their files and belongings.
